In our neck of the woods - spring comes early to our local museums and libraries with flower shows that are creative and whimsical. In an intersection of art and nature, floral designers are assigned to a piece of artwork, and they create a flower arrangement to reflect that work. Random Acts of Flowers

In July 2007 Larsen Jay experienced a near fatal accident. During his hospital stay, the numerous floral arrangements and visits he received provided an emotional boost, helping him endure multiple surgeries. This hearfelt support inspired him to create Random Acts of Flowers in Knoxville, TN, where volunteers spread hope - one bouquet at a time - to health care facilities and isolated elders.

This Week in History

1967 -Lila Acheson Wallace funds endowment for weekly arrangements in the great hall of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The flowers were the idea of philanthropist Lila Acheson Wallace. The florals change every Tuesday and are funded in perpetuity to greet visitors.
