Fun with Fibonacci Sequences

Week 25 Day 165 of 2024 - June 13th

Fibonacci (real name Leonardo Bonacci) was a mathematician in the middle ages who developed the Fibonacci Sequence. The sequence is found by adding the previous two numbers of the sequence together. It looks like this: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34...and on it goes. You probably learned about it in a high school math class.

The list of first 20 terms in the Fibonacci Sequence are:

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, 2584,

Examples of the Fibonacci sequence abound in nature. From Nautilus Shells to Sunflowers, Pinecones, Aloe Plants, Ferns, Romanesco Broccoli, caterpillars and Even Hurricanes. As the warmer weather takes you out of doors - keep an eye out for Fibonacci sequences.
