Shower Curtain Wall Art
Shower Curtains
We have lots of fun using inexpensive polyester shower curtains for all kinds of things - Sewers can repurpose them into pillows and cushions, tote bags or aprons. It’s also easy to recover a bulletin board or make a headboard with them if you have a staple gun. We tend to hang them inside and out and use them to cover our dog’s favorite chair. They are also great picnic table cloths. When our children were little we used them to cover the floor under the high chair or art projects when visiting relatives. They are lightweight and easy to tuck away and machine washable.

Speaking of Doors - Up in the Northeast you still find Portieres
What is a Portiere?(Rhymes with affair). Derived from “porte,” the French word for door. Think drapery for doors. Specifically, a portiere is a curtain that hangs over a door or over a doorless entry to another room.
Portieres were common in wealthier households during the Victorian era both for decoration and to keep out drafts.

Fairy Light Curtains
Sheer curtains are inexpensive and also great for dust covers indoors and plant covers outdoors and machine washable. We’ve seen them hung on porches and in place of screen doors - a la mosquito netting - but have never actually tried it.
