luminAID

We all know that I am a gadget gal. This is true even when it comes to lighting – in this case emergency lighting – known as luminAID – When I was growing up – the power went out enough – that I still keep a power out kit which now includes these lanterns – I also use mine daily as a night light and on our unlit back porch.

Keep one in your car or suitcase – The solar panel on the top of the light keeps it charged . They can hold a charge in storage for up to two years. – Wow – There are various models – some provide color and some charge your cell phone or tablet. They all fold down flat, are waterproof ,have a handle for hanging or carrying, and they float.

This inflatable solar lantern is the brainchild of two architectural students who asked themselves what they could do to help after natural disasters- They are a Shark tank success story as well.

For the last ten years they have been working with humanitarian partners to provide light for refugees and disaster relief. Now you can help too through their Give Light program – see the link below. Lights have been sent to over 100 countries and 50,000 families. I don’t doubt that they are on the ground in the wake of Hurricane Ian this week as well.

In addition to this serious work – they have expanded their selections to include garden lights that change color and can be set to timers as well as other colored lights. For you campers, if you need a safe portable light and cell phone charging – luminAID is a must.

You can follow their adventures and innovation on Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok and I encourage you to do so. We all know the world could use more people who ask themselves – how can I help? Let’s do all we can to encourage that.

I just ordered the Halloween Pack to expand my collection – just for fun:)
