Misfits Market Redux

I have blogged about Misfits Market before – at the beginning of the pandemic, when we were so grateful to receive their weekly boxes of fruit and vegetables. Then- it was a bit of a treasure hunt – as we unpacked the box and tried to identify the contents – and searched the internet for recipes. It was a “you get what you get and don’t get upset” program – which I loved. They had a waiting list to sign up. I started following them on Instagram for some hints of what I was receiving as they posted photos of what was in the weekly box. It was fun and educational and made us try things we would never have on our weekly shopping list – However, Like our local farm share, it started to be more than we could use – as our quarantine household shrank from four to two, and eventually, I stopped receiving the boxes. That was 2 years ago.

Now – they have revamped and upgraded their web site and expanded their offerings, and shortened their ordering windows – so you can select what you want to receive in your box – Wow! – I wasn’t entirely sure I was reading it right – it was such a different format – but this week we took the plunge and received some produce that tops our local food stores in quality and freshness, including some items – like fresh parsley and diced butternut squash – that are nearly impossible to find. We also sampled some of their seafood and beef offerings, that, thankfully are portioned for two diners. All delivered to my doorstep -with some of the largest strawberries I have ever seen.

They have also added spices, dairy and coffee/tea. I ordered the Ghee Spray to try. Kudos to Misfits for being a Covid Success story and revamping their business model.

Also check out their blog – which has recipes and lots of helpful produce hints – from freezing to roasting and more -You will feel like a little kid on delivery day, clapping your hands to see what’s in the box this week.
