Museum Quality Picnics

I can’t actually remember the last time I was in a museum gift shop, but when I pulled out our picnic basket to get ready for summer, I rediscovered some of my better picnic finds that were from the Worcester Art Museum and The New York Historical Society of all places.

First up, from the geniuses at MODGY are these folding vases, lanterns- with lights! -and dog bowls. Just fill with water and voilà- gorgeous. Lots of patterns and light weight. You can keep them in your suitcase also to jazz up your next destination.

Next, from Raincaper – art rain ponchos that I use to sit on damp places and use as table cloths. Silky smooth, machine washable, many works of art to choose from. As a bonus it will keep you dry with a hood if rain clouds roll in

Raincaper- drape on a picnic table or put on the ground to protect you from the elements

Willow baskets with drawstring tops are another New York Historical Society find. This promenade picnic basket comes with service for two – utensils, plate, wine glasses- in a variety of colors

To keep a bottle cool- here are two ways to go. I like the see through bag with ice – once it melts I put the rest in the aforementioned dog bowl

Chilling options

So these items that follow aren’t from a museum gift shop, but they are worth mentioning, as they bring your picnics up a notch

Picnic Time Chairs

These are picnic tables for one. Folds easily with side table that also fold up and down. Plenty of pockets for beverage, sunscreen, binoculars. If you get one be prepared for people to stop you and ask where you got it:). I’ve seen them everywhere from Marshall’s to Food 52.

Thanks to NLA for a lifetime of picnics
