Salt water cures everything

From personal experience, I can attest that nothing cures a hangover like a morning dip in the ocean. For me, that is just the beginning of the healing properties of salt water. Poison ivy? Go for a swim. Fleas on the dog? Take him/her for a dip to dehydrate the fleas then rinse the coat with fresh water. Feeling sore? Plunge in. Itchy scalp? Put your head under water.

The only thing better than an ocean swim to cure whatever ails you,is rinsing off afterwards in an outside shower, looking up at the sky while you let the salt wash off.

No wonder in previous centuries seaside visits were prescribed as cure all’s for everything from depression to tuberculosis.

Before you even get in the water, it is said that the sea air is charged with negative ions, which improve lung function and increases the happy hormone, serotonin.

The sun provides natural Vitamin D, better than the horse pill of daily dosage my doctor recommends.

The ocean is nature’s own Epsom salts bath. Sea water is rich in all kinds of minerals – magnesium, zinc, iron, sodium, iodine and potassium. You get to absorb these elements while you simply float. Magnesium, especially, improves skin elasticity and leaves you with smooth hydrated skin. Salt water is also anti-inflammatory and helps to heal rashes and acne while protecting the skin barrier.

As a bonus , swimming in cold water helps muscles get rid of lactid acid and burns more calories – as your body is working harder to keep warm , and also produces endorphins – more happy hormones. yay!

I like to open the windows as soon as I am close to the shore. Does inhaling salty air actually lower blood pressure and elevate your mood? Anecdotally , for me, it sure feels like it.

Recently, I was gifted sea salt body butter from from the old whaling company. It re-creates that great sea air beach smell, better than any other product I have ever seen

If you can’t get to the beach, this is the next best thing. I just bought the travel size, so I can take salt water with me everywhere.

Thank you Old Whaling Co for the scent

Thank you Mother Nature for the beach
