Snow Day Memories

I use to hang this flag in our kitchen when school was canceled. – before cell phones and text messages spread the word. Back when Snow days meant indoor picnics & hot chocolate. Sledding, snow angels and snow men. We watched the weather reports the night before like mariners, even though our lives didn’t depend on it. The anticipation of a free day was so exciting, somehow.

No matter where I have lived, I have always loved how the snow frosts everything, creating a quiet winter wonderland. I keep an illustrated copy of Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening to read with the first snow, preferably by a fire

Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow.
