Virtual Cooking Class

In the -there’s a first time for everything department- I took a virtual cooking class this week. I didn’t cook along with the chef- although I could have. The necessary ingredients list was provided beforehand by my local library, who sponsored the event.

The topic was sheet pan suppers. One of my favorites. My favorite tip was how to cut peppers from the bottom into slices without getting seeds everywhere.

The class was in real time and the instructor, Liz Barbour, was in her home in Hollis, New Hampshire. She had two cameras set up with a close up on her work surface. You could ask questions with the chat feature, which was very efficient as questions weren’t interrupting the presentation. She had a friendly, anybody can cook, demeanor.

Here is the link to the site which offers lots of tips, ideas and recipes as well as a calendar of upcoming classes you can join. It was fun and a refreshing break from streaming.

A shout out to all the libraries and librarians who have come up with so many ways to keep us all connected during the pandemic. Zooms, curbside pick up, E-book and audiobook choices galore.

Thank you
